Casa Holstein Quinta de Sao Sebastiao Sintra

Gordon has spent a lovely week in Sintra at the Casa Holstein.

As always, he manages to spot the classic car collection, a Merecedes 500 SEC and a Rolls Royce Corniche.

E-Type Reverse Light Now In Position

The brand new Jaguar E-Type reverse light is no in position and it’s one of the first sites of how stunning the chrome on black will be.

Mr Jankowski – Cornwall

“Just a note to let you know the car has arrived safely in Cornwall and thank you for sorting out my mothers car. My mother would be delighted with what you have done, it was her pride and joy. “It’s for me and my handbag” was her claim, but her grandchildren loved to ride in it, squashing into the back.”

Fitting the Jensen doors

The doors have now been temporarily fitted up as this is safer than having them wrapped up and away on shelves. Within the coming weeks we’ll be able to show you huge progress on the car as we start to build her back up.

Triumph Spitfire all finished

Our 1974 Triumph Spitfire recommissioning project is now complete and safely through it’s MOT.

Having been sitting around for over 15 years our task was to bring her back to life and get her back on the road.

The engine needed a full rebuild but rather than a full restoration the customer wanted her, aesthetically to remain the same.

She’s now running beautifully and has sailed through the MOT so now she’s ready to head back to Cornwall.

And taking her down to Cornwall this morning is Official Aston Martin Racing Partners Academy Motorsport. Owner Harry happens to be great friends with our Triumph Spitfire owner Erik so it’s travelling in good company this morning.

Installing the new tank in our E-Type

Not as easy as we had planned, our new tank just didn’t want to play fair with us today but Tommy persevered and after some gentle persuasion it’s in and looking lovely.

Installing the E-Type Air Conditioning System

The brand new air conditioning unit from Clayton Classics is now being installed in the centre console of our 1967 Jaguar E-Type.

The piece above is the evaporator unit and this will be disguised behind the newly trimmed air vent section where the controls will also be positioned.

Bridge Classic Cars visits the Italian Sports Cars Specialists

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We are hopefully looking, right now, at the final trip for our 1975 Maserati Merak in it’s restoration journey.

Our task at Bridge Classic Cars is now complete so it just needs a few tweaks and the once over from the Italian specialists at Grimaldi Engineering.

Roberto Grimaldi and his team come from Italian and Swiss backgrounds which they are all very proud of and run a business with a flair of Italian style and Swiss precision.

Stepping foot in the door of Grimaldi is every petrol head’s dream as they have a huge array of incredible super cars on display.

Check out their amazing selection of cars on their website or take a look at the images we took whilst we were there…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”15324,15325,15326,15327,15328,15329,15330″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Late night arrival to Bridge Classic Cars

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It was a late finish today for Craig as he stayed back to welcome in our newest addition to the Bridge Classic Cars, our 1980 MG Midget 1500.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”15376,15377,15378,15379,15380,15381″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Fitting up the E-Type dash

Tommy has been busy perfecting the Jaguar E-Type dash refit.

The car is really starting to take shape with more and more improvements being made everyday. We are just days away from running the car up for the first time and being able to fit up the new interior.

Once the interior is in position the car will look and feel almost complete and we can’t wait. A real show stopper in the making…

Fitting up the new interior

Early next week we’ll complete the final few items of our brand new MG YT but the rear seats are now complete and ready to be fitted.

We’ve used the original seats but have remade with new base cushions and re-introduced the lighter interior. The blue piping has been added to blend the interior in with the clipper blue exterior.

Coming soon…1947 Rover 12

Coming soon to Bridge Classic Cars, one of only 200 ever made, a 1947 Rover 12 – LUA 733.

The Rover 12 was a name given to several medium-sized family cars from the British Rover car company between 1905 and 1948.

Our 1947 Rover 12 resides in Laxfield currently and has been off the road for at least a couple of years. We have the task of carrying out a sympathetic recommission to get her back on the road for all to see once again.

The images has been sourced sourced from Car and Classics and originate from our good friends at Anglia Car Auctions.

New photos will follow once she arrives in our workshops next week.

Some new additions to our MGYT project

With the old badge bar beyond repair we have now sourced a brand new one, refurbished the original AA badge but kept the owner’s club as it arrived and now the entire unit is fitted back on to the car.

The brand new roof has also been built up and fitted. We are yet to fully fit and tighten where required but as you can see, the general shape and design fits perfectly to the frame.

Running up the Spitfire engine

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]After 15 years sitting in the bottom of a garden here in Ipswich our 1974 Triumph Spitfire is now up and running and will soon be ready for a full MOT inspection.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JZ3G9I-uUw”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

MGTC next stop, Southend On Sea

This morning, we said farewell to our 1949 MGTC. Originally in with us to have the wood frame rebuilt but shortly followed by a full rear respray.

She’s now on her way back to Southend with her owner Trevor.

MGTC rear respray now complete

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Our original objective was to repair the woodwork that was showing signs of wear on the offside. Not as straight forward as it sounds. Coachwork can be tricky to perfect and with it being the strength of the car it is critical to get it right.

Having stripped the car, we repaired the affect wood areas before refitting the panels ready for paint.

The front of the car was resprayed a few years ago and with the rear completely untouched now was the perfect time to complete the job properly.

Now the car is complete, fitted back up, she’s ready to hit the road once again to enjoy many more years of supermarket trips!

Mr Woods – Chelmsford, Essex

“Been using this garage for many years now and would never consider trying anywhere else. First class service every time and very reasonably priced, nothing is ever too much for these guys, and they will do all they can to help, you would be crazy NOT to use them.”

Classic pictures from the archives

Here we have some classic pictures given to us from our good friends.

It’s lovely when we have visitors with stories to tell and pictures to show.

We carried out some work on Trevor Murray’s 1949 MG TC  last year and whilst here he was thrilled to see the prototype 1960 Jensen 541S we had in undergoing a full restoration. Trevor was once the solicitor for the Jensen Car Club Limited and he owned a 541 himself. Here he is with his sons beside his Jensen.

And another fantastic archived picture brought to us, this time, by Asa’s dad Paul. Here is Paul and the family enjoying a summer holiday in they VW camper.

Loading up for tomorrow’s auction

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A bright and early start again this morning as we load up the 5 cars ready to head down to Kempton Park for tomorrow’s Jaguar Heritage, Classic and Sports Cars, hosted by Barons.

We’ve enlisted the help and expertise of Russell’s Transport once again to transport 4 of the 5 vehicles with the 1982 Triumph TR7 being left to us to take ourselves…this was a late entry and we hadn’t planned for it to go too!

Here are just some of our previous projects…

Refitting our rebuilt 1974 engine

Having recently rebuilt the engine of our 1974 Spitfire, we are now refitting it as part of the re-commissioning process.

Once the engine has been fitted back up and tested once again we will be close to being able to put her through an MOT.

After careful consideration we decided to fit a brand new radiator to the re-commissioning project as the cost of refurbishing the old one was not the most viable of options.

And whilst the engine was being rebuilt we had time to strip, clean and rebuild the braking system to ensure it is fit for the road.
