1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1

Official property of the UK once again

It’s official, our 1966 Jaguar E-Type is now fully UK registered.

The V5 has arrived and the new UK registration has been issued LKE354E.

She left us for the states in 1967 and remained property of the USA up until recently.

Welcome home!!

With the new plates fitted up she’s ready to get back out on the road. Next stop…Harwich…her new home.

Jaguar E-Type recommission complete

The recommissioning work is now complete and after a few days of test driving we can now confirm that our 1966 Jaguar E-Type is ready to head home.

…unfortunately the UK registration documentation has not come through as yet so until we know the new registration she’ll be tucked away in our Pettistree building and wait for the plates to be produced.

As it was such a scorching day we didn’t want to get the trailer out. Instead we decided to enjoy the sunshine and take her for an extra long test drive…over to Pettistree.

And she drove like a dream!

Rebuilding the E-Type brakes

With the rear cradle removed from the car in order to rebuild the brakes we decided to clean it up and give it a new paint finish just to freshen it up. It is important to think of the smaller jobs at every step of the way as the opportunity to clean up and paint components like this may not crop up again for a good number of years, if at all.

the new master cylinder and servo have now been fitted too.

And the new discs and calipers are now also fitted too so we will soon be good to go…and stop!!

Stripping the E-Type brakes

The car arrived to us with the brakes completely seized, the fluid had solidified and dried up.

We’ve now stripped them back completely and are now in the process of rebuilding the front and rears.

Whilst the rear cradle is out we will clean up and re-paint so give it a fresh look.

Recommissioning our 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1

Having recently purchased this original right hand drive 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1, the new owner has called upon our services to get her up and running and back on the road.

This 1966 model is believed to have left the UK in 1967 to spend its life in California. Being imported back in to the UK a few years ago the car has since been standing with its previous owner.

We have been informed that she has been running so that’s a great sign but we have already discovered that the brakes will certainly need some attention. The brake fluid is rock solid and has crystallised.

Our objective is to get her back on the road and through an MOT. At that stage, her new owner will look to enjoy her over the summer period and look to carry out some work when the weather starts to turn for the winter.
