1960 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite

1960 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite – to be purchased ‘as is’ or fully restored to concours condition in colours of your choice for £25000.

We have had this car running in our workshops which can be seen on our website. It has excellent oil pressure and sounds very sweet.

This is a great opportunity to purchase a very original, complete and largely sound Frogeye Sprite for restoration.

The previous owner had the vehicle for over 40 years as can be seen in the original buff logbook and V5. It is an original home market car with a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate which shows it started life in Nevada beige with red trim and a black hood. It was built on 2nd June 1960 and first registered on 1st August 1960.

The car is still 100% complete and original, and was specified new with extras such as front bumper, heater and rev counter. All are present and in good order, along with the very rare steering wheel and centre horn push.

Over the years the car has had some renovation, the underneath being quite solid, in particular the rear spring hangers, floorpans etc. Inner and outer sills will require replacement.

The outer panels are sound, but the ‘A’ posts will require work. The steel bonnet is in remarkable condition and will require only an amount of preparation during restoration. The rear panel behind the seats has had a hole cut in the past for a speaker, but again, this can easily be welded up. Of course, all restoration parts are available so a complete restoration is very viable.

Important points to note are as follows:

• Original 948cc engine, gearbox and carburettors
• Steel bonnet
• Original steel wheels, including a spare
• Original seats
• Original hub caps
• Original front bumper and rear over-riders
• Original and correct dials and dashboard
• Correct side screens present
• Original steering wheel and horn push
• Original registration number from new
• ‘New old stock’ grille in original dealer box
• New old stock vinyl hood
• Original and correct hood frame

There is a folder with service history, not back to day 1 but still fairly comprehensive.

The boxes shown in one of the pictures is all of the spares that come with the car.
