1967 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Race Recreation

1967 Jaguar Race Recreation

Having been left with a very desirable Series 1, 2 plus 2 shell, engine, running gear and not much else we decided to design and manufacture something special, something that would be unique, something versatile. Something that you will not see again.

In 2017 we brainstormed to build a lighter weight road going race car replica, something happy on or off the track. Something for the person who stands out in a crowd.

It was decided to de-seam the body externally which meant the removal of the front indicator, sidelight housing and we redesigned these to incorporate them within the headlight aperture.

The tailgate was welded in to smooth off the back end and we removed any trace of the signature Etype bumpers.

The Monza fuel tank filler was redesigned and mounted in a central position for easy filling in the race environment.

The paint has to be seen to be believed. A new process to us was to install a three stage pearl.

First stage is to silver base the body.

Second stage in our application was to paint a candy volcano orange.

Third stage was to diamond burst the first two stages which gives the effect of a very powerful diamond effect which is fantastic under light.

This was repeated for the magnetic grey stripes and interior.

The engine was fully rebuilt with triple Weber carburettors, fast road Jag 2 cams, Mahl pistons, oversized inlet valves to allow more air and fuel in, gas flowed cylinder head, raised compression 9.5: 1 with the crankshaft, front pulley, flywheel, flywheel clutch assembly, Conrod and pistons. fully balanced.

The redesigned exhaust manifold was to allow the free flow of exhaust gasses incorporating a bespoke side exit over bored stainless steel exhaust designed and fitted by demand engineering.

All of is married to a five speed gearbox for the touring aspect of the build.

The rear axle has a rebuilt Jaguar 3.07: 1 diff, uprated Series 3 callipers and discs. Fully adjustable GAZ shock absorbers with uprated coils springs.

The front setup comprises of aluminium 4 pot callipers with crossed and drilled discs, braided brake hoses all round and the whole car is fully polybushed.

Sabelt 4 point seatbelts are fitted.

The cooling system is via an aluminium radiator and electric fan.

All glass has been replaced with removable Perspex to lighten her even further with side opening slide access and a triple x laminated windscreen.

Dunlop knock on race wheels and Michelin 205 70 15 tyres .

The race seats were stripped and retrimmed to match the car and we have fitted carpets to take away the total rawness of the project.

These are all removable for those special track days.

Dash mounted classic time trial dials are fitted should a day of hill climbing be attractive.

This wasn’t built to be cheap, it was built to be versatile and we have achieved our aim.
